Proposal and Installation Process

You will be proud of your new Solar Photovoltaic system and completely satisfied with the turnkey approach we will provide. The most common application for solar is the roof mounted system which can be installed on virtually any roofing surface. We will therefore be describing a typical roof mounted system.
Step 1. Feasibility
We will perform a thorough site assessment to determine the proper type of system, size and best orientation towards the sun.
We will inspect the framing of the building for structural integrity and determine the condition of the roofing material. We will provide you with a complete report of our findings and include calculations of the systems projected annual output.
Step 2. The Proposal
Based on the site assessment and the size of the system that is selected to meet your percentage of electrical consumption we will present to you a proposal package and options for the complete system.
Step 3. Contract
The contract will provide us the ability to proceed with all rebate paper work proceedings. The proper paper work will be filed immediately with Commonwealth Solar, the review process is 4-6 weeks. During this period we will be planning for the installation of your system and meet with the local building authority to review plans and initiate the interconnection connection agreement with electric provider. Upon rebate approval we will apply for permits with local jurisdiction. The permit process varies and can be as little as one day or a maximum of thirty days. With advanced review with local building officials the permit process is streamlined.
Step 4. Installation
Our professional installation crews will arrive at your location and begin to layout the solar array. The mounting hardware is installed and then the individual panels are installed to make up the solar array. Wiring is connected and secured to panels and mounting hardware. The wire is then brought into the building at a convenient location and is connected to the inverter and electrical circuit breaker panel. The system is then commisioned and tested. The system is then inspected by the local authority. At last the electric provider will make the interconnection that will allow the electricity to flow between your new pv system and the grid. Let the savings begin, excess power generated will be sold to the electric provider and you will begin to see a credit on your monthly statement.
Step 5. Completion
We will familiarize you with the system and its functions.
Commonwealth Solar will perform a final inspection of completion and operation of system to confirm that the system is installed and operating as designed..The warranty period will begin and a maintenance schedule arraigned.
Warranty and Maintenance
The warranty for the installation of all equipment is for a minimum period of Five years from the date of installation. Most solar panel manufacturer warranties range from 20 years to 25 years. Most inverters carry a warranty of 10 years from date of installation.
Maintenance for a solar photovoltaic system is minimal due to the fact that there are no moving parts. The system solar panels should be cleaned annually by rinsing with a hose. A system check should be performed annually by a certified installer or electrician to verify the proper current and voltage of the system. Systems can be remotely monitored which makes it easy to check on your system even if you are not at the location, additionally a monitoring agency can alert you in the event of a system malfunction. It is to be expected that the Inverter will need replacing between years 10 and 15, as this is the typical lifespan for the Inverter.
